Amanda Bynes is once again attracting attention for her evolving personal style and highly publicized weight-loss journey.
The former Nickelodeon star was recently photographed during a casual outing in Los Angeles wearing tiny black leather shorts with a relaxed white long-sleeve top, an outfit that left several of her leg tattoos visible.
The September 13 outing quickly became another talking point surrounding Bynes’ changing look. But the interest in the actress goes beyond a single outfit. Over the past year, Bynes has spoken publicly about using Ozempic as part of her weight-loss journey, shared updates about her appearance and tattoos, and increasingly explored fashion and design projects.
For longtime fans who remember her from The Amanda Show, What a Girl Wants, She’s the Man and Hairspray, her latest public appearances offer another look at the life Bynes has built away from her former Hollywood career.

Amanda Bynes Steps Out in Leather Shorts in Los Angeles
Bynes’ latest outfit was casual but difficult to miss. During a September 13 outing in Los Angeles, she was photographed wearing a white long-sleeve shirt with very short black leather bottoms, black low-top sneakers and her platinum-blonde hair worn down.
The shorts also made several of the tattoos on her legs clearly visible. The appearance fits the increasingly individual fashion aesthetic Bynes has displayed during recent public outings: oversized or relaxed pieces paired with bold beauty choices, visible tattoos and unconventional accessories.
At 40, Bynes appears to be experimenting with her look outside the traditional expectations that surrounded her during her years as a young television and movie star.
Her Leg Tattoos Become Part of the Look
The leather shorts put Bynes’ tattoo collection prominently on display. Among the visible designs reported from the outing were tattoos on her upper thigh and lower leg.
Tattoos have become an increasingly recognizable element of Bynes’ appearance. She has added several pieces over the years, including designs on her hands and fingers as well as the heart tattoo on her face that became one of her most discussed appearance changes.
For Bynes, body art appears to function as more than an occasional accessory. It has become part of the visual identity she presents publicly.
Amanda Bynes’ Ozempic Weight-Loss Journey
Much of the recent attention surrounding Amanda Bynes has centered on her weight loss. Unlike many celebrity transformations that generate months of speculation before being addressed publicly, Bynes has discussed using Ozempic herself.
She revealed in 2025 that she had started using the medication while trying to lose weight. Bynes said at the time that she weighed around 173 pounds and hoped eventually to reach approximately 130 pounds.
Her comments also revealed something about the unusual pressures associated with being photographed as a celebrity: she said one motivation was wanting to feel better about how she appeared in paparazzi photos.
What Is Ozempic?
Ozempic is the brand name for semaglutide, a prescription GLP-1 medication approved in the United States for adults with type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide can affect appetite and digestion, which is one reason drugs in this class have become closely associated with weight management.
However, Ozempic should not be treated as a casual cosmetic product or universal weight-loss solution. Prescription medications can have risks and side effects, and decisions about their use belong between an individual and a qualified medical professional. Bynes’ experience is her personal experience, not a recommendation or medical blueprint for others.
How Much Weight Has Amanda Bynes Lost?
The numbers Bynes has publicly shared provide context for why her changing appearance has received so much attention. In December 2025, she said she had previously weighed about 180 pounds and had lost 28 pounds while using Ozempic, putting her reported weight at approximately 152 pounds.
Recent reports have characterized the overall change as more than 30 pounds, although exact figures can vary depending on when Bynes made a particular update. What is clearer is that the transformation has happened gradually across a series of public appearances rather than through one dramatic reveal.
Why Bynes Has Been So Open About Her Transformation
Perhaps the more interesting part of the story is not simply that Amanda Bynes lost weight. It is how openly she has discussed it.
Celebrity transformations often generate speculation about diets, medications, surgery and exercise routines. Bynes largely removed one major source of speculation by acknowledging her Ozempic use herself.
Bynes became famous at an unusually young age. She appeared on Nickelodeon’s All That before getting her own sketch-comedy series, The Amanda Show, and later transitioned into movies and more mature television roles. That means photographs of her appearance have circulated publicly for much of her life.
Amanda Bynes’ Tattoos and Changing Personal Style
Weight loss is only one part of Bynes’ changing aesthetic. Hair, eyebrows, tattoos, clothing and accessories have all become ways she experiments with her appearance.
Recent looks have included platinum-blonde hair, dramatic brows, miniskirts, casual streetwear and visible body art. Rather than maintaining a conventional celebrity-red-carpet aesthetic, Bynes frequently appears in combinations that feel more connected to street style and personal experimentation.
Amanda Bynes Is Exploring Fashion Design
There is another part of Bynes’ recent story that may ultimately prove more significant than the leather shorts: she has been exploring fashion design.
During the same recent Los Angeles appearance, Bynes carried a striking tiger-patterned handbag that recent coverage identified as one of her own designs. Instead of viewing Bynes only as the subject of celebrity fashion photographs, she may increasingly be positioning herself as someone creating the fashion products appearing in those photographs.
Her interest in design is not entirely new. After stepping away from acting, Bynes studied fashion, earning an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles in 2018.
From Child Star to Creative Reinvention
Amanda Bynes’ relationship with fame has changed dramatically since the height of her acting career. Movies such as What a Girl Wants, She’s the Man and Hairspray helped establish her as one of the defining young comedy stars of the 2000s.
But Bynes eventually stepped away from acting. Rather than attempting to recreate her earlier Hollywood career, her public projects increasingly appear connected to fashion, design and other forms of personal expression.
Why Are People Still So Interested in Amanda Bynes?
Bynes occupies an unusual place in American pop culture. For millennials in particular, she was a fixture of childhood and teenage entertainment.
Many viewers watched her move from sketch comedy on Nickelodeon to starring roles in romantic comedies and major studio films. Then she largely disappeared from mainstream entertainment. That combination naturally created curiosity about what she was doing years later.
Nostalgia Plays a Major Role
The continued attention also reflects a larger cultural fascination with 1990s and early-2000s entertainment. Fashion from the era has returned, movies and television shows are being revisited, and former teen stars continue to generate interest among audiences who grew up watching them.
What Is Amanda Bynes Doing Now?
Bynes remains largely outside mainstream Hollywood. Her recent public activity has focused more heavily on personal style, social media, tattoos, fashion projects and updates about her weight-loss journey.
Her fashion education has also become newly relevant as she experiments with handbag designs. Whether her fashion work eventually develops into a larger commercial business remains to be seen.
Celebrity Weight Loss Deserves Context, Not Just Before-and-After Photos
Bynes’ Ozempic journey also highlights a broader shift in celebrity culture. GLP-1 medications have changed the public conversation around weight loss, but discussions surrounding them can quickly become oversimplified.
A celebrity’s physical transformation may generate headlines, yet photographs rarely provide meaningful information about someone’s overall health. Body size alone cannot tell viewers whether someone is healthy, and another person’s experience with a prescription medication cannot determine whether that medication is appropriate for someone else.
The Bigger Story Is Amanda Bynes’ Reinvention
The black leather shorts may have generated the newest photographs, but they represent only one part of Amanda Bynes’ latest chapter. Her transformation spans weight loss, tattoos, beauty choices, personal style and an emerging interest in creating fashion herself.
For an entertainer once known for inhabiting characters written by other people, that shift has an interesting symbolism. Bynes now appears to be defining her image largely on her own terms.
